The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will depart for Xian this evening (August 29) to attend the eighth meeting of the Mainland/Hong Kong Science and Technology Co-operation Committee.
The meeting, co-chaired by Mr So and the Vice Minister of Science and Technology of the Central People's Government, Dr Cao Jianlin, will be held tomorrow (August 30). It will review the work progress of the Committee since the seventh meeting and set the work priorities for the coming year with a view to strengthening technological exchange and co-operation between the two sides.
Accompanying Mr So for the meeting will be representatives from the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau, the Innovation and Technology Commission, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, the University Grants Committee, local universities, the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation and a number of local research institutes.
Mr So will return to Hong Kong tomorrow evening.
