The Subcommittee on Poverty of the Legislative Council's House Committee continued its duty visit to Tokyo of Japan today (August 28).
The delegation visited the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in the morning and received a briefing on the assistance the local/municipal government provides for the low-income group and jobless as well as the plan for promoting and supporting self-reliance.
The delegation then visited two facilities, Hamakawasou and Shinagawaryou, which are entrusted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Hamakawasou and Shinagawaryou provide accommodations and other assistance for low income group and homeless people respectively. Members of the delegation received a briefing by the staff of the facilities to learn about their operations.
The delegation will visit the Independency Support Centre which provides poverty-related support services tomorrow (August 29) and will return to Hong Kong in the evening tomorrow.
