The Subcommittee on Poverty of the Legislative Council's House Committee continued its duty visit to Tokyo of Japan today (August 27).
The delegation visited the Children's Home of the Japanese Red Cross Society in the morning to learn about its operation. The Children's Home provides support and caring services for children. In the afternoon, members of the delegation met with Professor Masahiro Yamada of the Chuo University to receive a briefing on poverty and employment problems in Japan and exchange views on related issues. The delegation then visited Motosumi-Bremen Street Shopping District to learn about how a shopping street helps boast local economy.
The delegation will call on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government tomorrow (August 28). They will also visit the facilities entrusted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government which provide assistance to the low-income group and jobless.
