In response to the report concerning the Central Policy Unit (CPU) in Oriental Daily News and The Sun on August 27, 2013, a CPU spokesman issued the following statement:

     The CPU has not received the complaint letter referred to in the report of the above-mentioned newspapers. We also understand that the two departments mentioned in the said report had not received such a complaint.

     The Government has clear and strict guidelines governing overtime work, including application, permission, and monitoring. The CPU has been strictly implementing those guidelines.

     The spokesman added that CPU plays a special role in the Government and has a heavy workload. Colleagues in the Unit work together co-operatively and pro-actively with a good spirit. The description in the report about the working atmosphere in the Unit does not reflect the actual situation.
