The Subcommittee on Poverty of the Legislative Council's House Committee began its duty visit to Tokyo of Japan today (August 26) to study its experience on poverty alleviation.
The delegation visited the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to receive a briefing on the elderly policy and the financial arrangement of the pension system in Japan. The delegation also met with the Committee on Health, Labour and Welfare of the House of Representatives to exchange views on poverty issues. The delegation also received a briefing by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare on the Pension System in Japan.
The delegation also took this opportunity to tour the Diet Buildings. The delegation then visited the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to receive a briefing on improving poverty situation through boosting local economy by means of city centre vitalisation.
The delegation will visit the Children's Home of the Japanese Red Cross Society tomorrow (August 27) and meet with a professor of the Chuo University who specialises in studying the poverty and employment problem in Japan.
