The Subcommittee on Poverty of the Legislative Council's House Committee arrived in Taiwan to conduct its duty visit, so as to study the experience of Taiwan in alleviating poverty.
The delegation will visit the Bureau of Employment and Vocational Training of the Council of Labour Affairs under the Executive Yuan tomorrow (August 22). The delegation will also meet with officials of the Department of Social Welfare and the Department of Labour of the Taipei City Government to get to know more about the policies and measures in relation to poverty alleviation in Taipei City. Moreover, members of the delegation will visit low-cost housing in Taipei City to learn about the free provision of low-cost housing for low-income families.
Meanwhile, due to the severe tropical storm, Trami, the delegation's visit to the Ministry of Health and Welfare and Wujie Township in Yilan County originally scheduled for today (August 21) has been cancelled.
