The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in July showed a drop of 557 cases, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent, when compared to that in June, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (August 21).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of July stood at 265 438 (see attached table), with a total of 410 765 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases and low earnings cases registered month-to-month decreases of 0.9 per cent and 0.7 per cent to 22 560 cases and 9 515 cases respectively. Ill-health cases and single parent cases both decreased by 0.2 per cent to 25 165 cases and 30 358 cases respectively. Old age cases also dropped by 0.1 per cent to 152 272 cases
Permanent disability cases remained steady at 18 445 cases.
