Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending a public function this morning (August 18):
Reporter: (on some saying that the Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung's effort to connect with the people only serves to divide the community further)
Secretary for Food and Health: I think the initiative of Principal Officials of the Special Administrative Region Government to go to the district and have direct dialogue with the public is most meaningful because you can see that even in the district forum last week in Tin Shui Wai, a lot of useful and constructive feedback was obtained. I think the Government will continue with this initiative and will not give up.
Reporter: (on if any violence happens again)
Secretary for Food and Health: I hope not. I certainly hope that there would not be any violence. I would like to appeal to Hong Kong citizens to express their views in a peaceful and rational manner. Thank you.
