Proprietor fined for violation of safety rules

Wo Lee Steel Company Limited was fined $145,000 at Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (August 16) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Lifting Appliances and Lifting Gear) Regulations. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred in a workshop in Fanling on December 11 last year, in which a worker fell from the top of a stack of metal sheet rolls to his death while he was handling a load of materials being lifted by a crane.
