The Hong Kong Observatory issued the No. 8 Southeast Gale or Storm Signal at 1.40am today (August 14).
The Home Affairs Department has so far opened 17 temporary shelters in various districts and 31 people have sought refuge at the shelters.
According to the Hospital Authority, so far a 26-year-old woman has sought medical treatment at the Accident and Emergency Department at a public hospital. She was admitted and her condition was stable.
The 1823 Government Call Centre has so far received three reports of fallen trees.
No report of flooding or landslide has been received.
The signal will remain in force for most of the morning.
