Fatal traffic accident in Sha Tin

     Police are investigating a traffic accident in Sha Tin this afternoon (August 13) in which a 41-year-old woman was killed.

     At about 5.20pm, a rubbish truck driven by a 50 year-old-man was travelling along Sha Tin Centre Street towards Tai Po. When approaching near the Sha Tin Central Bus Terminus, it reportedly knocked down the 41-year-old woman.

     Sustaining serious injuries to her head, the woman was rushed to the Prince of Wales Hospital in unconscious state where she was certified dead at 5.44pm.

     The rubbish truck driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to Police in early October.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South, are underway.
