The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
Regarding a female psychiatric ward in Tai Po Hospital in which some patients had been infected with Influenza A, the spokesperson gave the following update today (August 13):
Two more patients, aged 46 and 75, in the ward have presented with respiratory symptoms. Appropriate viral tests were arranged and the test results were positive for Influenza A. The concerned patients are being treated under isolation and are in stable condition.
Admission and visits to the concerned ward have been suspended. Infection control measures have been stepped up according to the established guidelines. All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
