The Transport Department (TD) today (August 13) reminded the public that temporary traffic and transport arrangements to facilitate tram track renewal work would be implemented in Western District from 10am this Friday (August 16) to 10am on August 30.
The temporary traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:
(1) Temporary traffic arrangement
The sections of the fast lane of Des Voeux Road West westbound from its junction with Water Street to a point about 35 metres west of the same junction will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic except trams.
(2) Temporary transport arrangement
The bus stop on Des Voeux Road West westbound outside No. 326-332 will be temporarily relocated westward by about 30 metres.
Appropriate traffic signs and road markings will be placed on-site to guide motorists.
Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible.
The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures as necessary. The public is advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
