The Labour Department will hold a large-scale job fair at Southorn Stadium in Wan Chai on August 14.

A total of 50 organisations, mainly from the retail, catering and property management industries, offering about 2 900 vacancies, will participate at the fair. Participating organisations will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment. The Construction Industry Council will also introduce the latest training courses and skill demonstrations will be performed.

The vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions such as barista, customer service associate, security guard, trolley assistant, salesperson, cashier, shop assistant, waiter/waitress, driver, storekeeper and others. Job seekers can find more information on the department's Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk).

Around 80 per cent of the vacancies are full-time jobs. Most vacancies offer monthly salaries ranging from $7,000 to $13,000. Over 97 per cent of the vacancies require a Secondary Six education level or below. Around 59 per cent are open to job seekers who may lack relevant experience and many vacancies are suitable for young people and secondary school leavers.

Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. They can also register for employment services on the spot at the Labour Department's counter.

The job fair will be held from 11am to 5.30pm at Southorn Stadium, 1/F, 111 Johnston Road, Wan Chai (MTR Wan Chai Station Exit A3). Admission is free.
