The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, will depart for Beijing in the evening of August 11 to meet with relevant Mainland authorities to strengthen mutual ties.
On August 12, Dr Ko will call on the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the China Food and Drug Administration to discuss various issues including Chinese medicine development, drug safety and food safety monitoring.
In the morning of August 13, Dr Ko will call on the Ministry of Commerce and the State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine to exchange views on matters of mutual concern.
Accompanying Dr Ko on the visit will be the Director of Health, Dr Constance Chan, and the Controller of the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, Dr Gloria Tam. Dr Ko will return to Hong Kong in the afternoon of August 13.
