HD opera film screenings to present four works of "Ring" cycle
*********************************************************

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the opera screenings "The Ring in Hi-Vi" will be held in October and November. Co-organised by Hi Fi Review, the screenings will be hosted by editor Savio Lau and discussions with participating critics Lawrence Lock, Thomas Wong, Chui Yuen and Dennis Wu will be held at different screenings.

The screenings will present the filmed version of a notable production in Bayreuth, Germany, of the four works of Wagner's "Ring" cycle. Host Savio Lau has chosen an acclaimed Bayreuth production from 1992, directed by Harry Kupfer and conducted by Daniel Barenboim. Advanced equipment will be brought in to provide good picture and sound quality. Before each screening, Lau will offer a brief introduction, and after each screening he will be joined by critics for discussions. The audience may join in the discussions, not only to ask questions but also to contribute their own comments on the performance.
