FEHD cancels Yau Ma Tei light refreshment restaurant licence
************************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene cancelled the licence of a light refreshment restaurant in Yau Ma Tei today (August 5).

The operator of the restaurant, located on the ground floor at 15 Temple Street, repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the business area.

"Between January and June this year, six convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.

"A total fine of $41,000 was levied by the court and 90 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the cancellation of the licence," he added.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign indicating that the premises have been licensed at a conspicuous place near the main entrance. A list of licensed food premises is also available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
