Police are investigating the death of a 47-year-old police officer at the disciplined services quarters on Lee On Road in Sau Mau Ping in the small hours of today (August 5).
About 1.07am, Police received a report that a 51-year-old female security guard found the off-duty police officer lying unconscious on the floor at the rooftop of the disciplined services quarters. He had a gunshot wound to his head and was later certified dead at scene. The service revolver was found next to the deceased and a will note was also found at scene.
Upon initial investigation, it is believed that he committed suicide with his service revolver.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted later on the deceased to ascertain his cause of death.
Investigations by District Crime Squad of Sau Mau Ping are underway.
