The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, today (July 31) started his visit to Wuhan in Hubei Province.
A breakfast meeting was held with representatives of Hong Kong enterprises and Hong Kong people working in Hubei Province to enable Mr Tsang to better understand the opportunities and challenges of doing business in Hubei.
Mr Tsang then visited Wuhan's business area along Jiefang Avenue and Wuhan Tiandi to see for himself the development projects of Hong Kong companies in the provincial capital of Hubei.
Mr Tsang held a meeting with the Executive Vice Governor of Hubei Province, Mr Wang Xiaodong, before attending a lunch hosted by the Executive Vice Governor.
In the afternoon, Mr Tsang went to the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Zone, which houses many renowned optoelectronics and information technology companies and is regarded as the cradle of the optoelectronics and telecommunications industry in China.
A meeting was arranged for Mr Tsang to meet with the Mayor of Wuhan, Mr Tang Liangzhi. Mr Tsang also attended a dinner hosted by the Mayor after the meeting.
Mr Tsang arrived in Wuhan in the evening yesterday (July 30) and is visiting Wuhan until tomorrow morning (August 1). He will then head to Changsha in Hunan Province for the second stop in his visit.
