Limited sessions for free use of LCSD leisure facilities on Sport For All Day still available
************************************************************

Limited sessions for leisure facilities to be opened to the public for free use on Sport For All Day on August 4 are still available for booking on a first-come, first-served basis, a spokesman for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) said today (July 31).

Facilities with limited free sessions for booking include land-based leisure facilities like carom tables, bowling greens, golf facilities, table tennis tables, activity rooms, squash courts, tennis courts, fitness rooms and sports climbing facilities, as well as water sports centre facilities like windsurfing, canoeing and sailing dinghy facilities.

Most of the free sessions for multi-purpose arenas in sports centres, which can be converted into badminton, basketball, volleyball and netball courts, have already been taken up.

"Members of the public who are interested in booking these limited free sessions are urged to visit the Leisure Link booking counters at LCSD venues as early as possible to make bookings before the sessions are taken up," the spokesman said, adding that each person can reserve only one session irrespective of the types of leisure facilities.

No prior booking is required for the LCSD's public swimming pools for Sport For All Day on August 4. The public can gain free admission to the pools on a first-come, first-served basis by queuing outside the entrance of the swimming pools before the opening of each session. As Wan Chai Swimming Pool is only for group training purposes, it will not be open for free use on that day.

In addition, the spokesman appealed to hirers to make the best use of the booked facilities and to arrive at the facilities on time. If a hirer fails to take up the booked facility 10 minutes after the start time of the booked session, the facility will be reallocated to any walk-in applicant on a first-come, first-served basis. The walk-in applicant who is so allocated a facility does not need to surrender the facility to the original hirer upon the latter's arrival.

"Hirers who are not able to use the booked facilities should cancel their reserved sessions as early as possible by submitting a booking cancellation form or confirming their cancellation in writing. Leisure Link Patrons can also cancel their reserved sessions online."
