Murder and attempted suicide in Chai Wan

      Police today (July 26) arrested a 38-year-old man in connection with a murder and attempted suicide case in Chai Wan this noon in which a 34-year-old woman, an eight-year-old boy and a nine-year-old girl died.

     About 12pm, Police received reports that gas leakage was found from a unit at Oi Yuk House of Oi Tung Estate. Police officers and firemen sped to the scene and forcibly opened the door of the premises. A 38-year-old man was found lying unconsciously on a bed with injuries on his wrist. He was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for medical treatment.  

    Police also found a 34-year-old woman, an eight-year-old boy and a nine-year-old girl lying unconsciously on the floor inside the unit. The woman sustained cut wounds on her neck and the children were suspected to have been hit with hard object on their heads. They were certified dead at scene.

    A hammer and a chopper in suspected connection with the case were seized at scene.  

    Initial investigations revealed that the man and the woman were lovers. The two children were believed to be their offspring who were born in the Mainland.     

     The man was arrested for murder.  

     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted early next week to ascertain the causes of death of the deceased.

     Active investigations by District Crime Squad of Eastern District are under way.
