Special traffic arrangements for public procession on Hong Kong Island

     Police will implement the following special traffic arrangements this Sunday (July 28) to facilitate the holding of a public procession on Hong Kong Island.

A. Road closure

From 2.15pm onwards or when necessary:

- Great George Street (including the section from the west of Paterson Street and East Point Road under pedestrianisation scheme between noon and 11.59pm);
- Cleveland Street;
- Kingston Street;
- Paterson Street between Gloucester Road and Great George Street; and
- U-turn slip road between southbound and northbound Gloucester Road.

From 2.45pm onwards or when necessary:

- Irving Street (except for vehicles heading for Regal Hong Kong Hotel);
- A section of westbound Yee Wo Street between Pennington Street and Hennessy Road;
- A section of Yun Ping Road between Kai Chiu Road and Pak Sha Road;
- Kai Chiu Road;
- A section of Lee Garden Road between Kai Chiu Road and Hennessy Road;
- A section of westbound Hennessy Road between Yee Wo Street and Lee Garden Road;
- A section of Canal Road West between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
- A section of Wan Chai Road between Canal Road West and Morrison Hill Road;
- A section of Bowrington Road between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
- A section of westbound Hennessy Road west of Lee Garden Road;
- A slip road leading from eastbound Johnston Road to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Eastbound Queensway will be intermittently closed;
- Rodney Street;
- A section of westbound Harcourt Road between Harcourt Garden car park exit and Tamar Street;
- The first right lane of westbound Harcourt Road between Tamar Street and Cotton Tree Drive;
- A section of eastbound Harcourt Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Tim Mei Avenue;
- A section of southbound Tim Wa Avenue between Lung Wo Road and Harcourt Road (except for vehicles heading for Chief Executive¡¦s Office and Central Government Offices car park);
- The first right lane of Garden Road flyover; and
- A section of southbound Edinburgh Place between Lung Wo Road and Connaught Road Central.

B. Traffic diversion

From 2.15pm onwards or when necessary:

- Traffic along westbound Gloucester Road cannot turn left to southbound Cleveland Street and southbound Paterson Street;
- Traffic along northbound Tai Hang Road flyover cannot turn left to Kingston Street and northbound Gloucester Road;
- Traffic along southbound Gloucester Road cannot turn right to northbound Gloucester Road;
- Traffic along westbound Russell Street must turn left to southbound Canal Road East; and
- Traffic along westbound Hennessy Road cannot turn left to Canal Road East.

From 2.45pm onwards or when necessary:

- Traffic along westbound Causeway Road cannot turn right to Irving Street (except for vehicles heading for Regal Hong Kong Hotel) and must turn left to westbound Leighton Road;
- Traffic along Irving Street must turn right to northbound Pennington Street;
- Traffic along northbound Pennington Street must turn right to eastbound Yee Wo Street;
- Traffic along Yun Ping Road must turn left to Pak Sha Road or Lan Fong Road;
- Traffic along northbound Canal Road West near the junction with Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West cannot turn left to northbound Bowrington Road;
- Traffic along northbound Bowrington Road must turn right to eastbound Sharp Street West;
- Traffic along eastbound Wan Chai Road must turn right to southbound Morrison Hill Road;
- Traffic along southbound Stewart Road cannot turn right to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along southbound Fleming Road cannot turn right to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along northbound Fleming Road cannot turn left to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along southbound Fenwick Street cannot turn right to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road outside of Harcourt Garden car park exit will be diverted to Harcourt Road leading to westbound Harcourt Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Harcourt Road must turn right to southbound Cotton Tree Drive;
- Traffic along northbound Cotton Tree Drive will be diverted to northbound Tim Wa Avenue;
- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot turn to Tim Wa Avenue (except for vehicles heading for Chief Executive¡¦s Office and Central Government Offices car park); and
- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot turn to southbound Edinburgh Place.

C. Suspension of bus stops, taxi stand and green minibus (GMB) stand

- The GMB stand at Tang Lung Street will be suspended from 2.15pm;
- All bus stops along Irving Street, westbound Yee Wo Street, westbound Hennessy Road, eastbound Queensway, and a section of westbound Harcourt Road between Rodney Street and Cotton Tree Drive will be suspended from 2.15pm;
- Bus routes using Queensway Public Transport Interchange (PTI) will be suspended as far as possible from 3pm;
- The taxi stand on Paterson Street will be suspended from 2.15pm; and
- The taxi stand underneath the Queensway PTI will be suspended from 3pm.

D. Suspension of car parks

     All car parks along Great George Street, westbound Hennessy Road and Rodney Street may be closed at short notice if necessary. In addition, vehicles may not be permitted to leave or enter the car parks along the procession routes during the road closure period.

     Actual implementation of the traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the area. Motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of the Police on site.
