The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, met the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Margaret Chan, at the Chief Executive's Office this afternoon (July 26) to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.
Mr Leung said that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government and the Hospital Authority (HA) have stepped up efforts to monitor and prevent recent novel infectious diseases. The Government and the HA will continue to appeal to the public to observe good personal hygiene through public education.
Mr Leung said that the HKSAR Government will continue to maintain close liaison with the WHO to exchange experience on public health issues.
