Police are investigating a traffic accident in Western District this morning (July 26) in which an 82-year-old woman died.
About 5.58am, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 28-year-old man was travelling along eastbound Shing Sai Road. When approaching Sai Cheung Street, the MGV reportedly knocked down the 82-year-old woman.
The woman sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital in unconscious state where she was certified dead at 6.27am.
The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to Police in late October.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are underway.
