The Transport Department (TD) today (July 25) reminded the public that temporary traffic and transport arrangements to facilitate tram track renewal work will be implemented in Happy Valley from 10am on July 29 to 10am on August 5.
The temporary traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:
(1) Temporary traffic arrangements
The following road sections will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic except trams:
* The fast lane of Wong Nai Chung Road northbound from a point about 30 metres north of its junction with Shan Kwong Road to a point about 50m north of the same junction;
* The fast lane of Wong Nai Chung Road northbound from a point about 15m south of its junction with Shan Kwong Road to a point about 30m south of the same junction; and
* The slow lane of Wong Nai Chung Road northbound from a point about 20m north of its junction with Shan Kwong Road to a point about 60m north of the same junction.
(2) Temporary transport arrangement
The bus stop on Wong Nai Chung Road northbound outside Hindu Temple will be temporarily relocated southward by about 30m.
Appropriate traffic signs and road markings will be placed on-site to guide motorists.
Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible.
The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. The public are advised to stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
