Fatal fire in Shau Kei Wan

     A 54-year-old woman died in a No.1 alarm fire in Shau Kei Wan Main Street East this Wednesday (July 17).

     The fire broke out at a domestic unit on the seventh floor, King Fai Building, Shau Kei Wan Main Street East, at 1.46pm on Wednesday.

     Firemen used one jet and mobilised three breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze. The fire was largely put out at 2.20pm. About 35 persons were evacuated to safety by the firemen.

     Firemen found a woman sustained burns at the scene. The woman was then sent to Queen Mary Hospital where she was certified dead at 9pm last night (July 19). Another 47-year-old woman was overcome by smoke and was sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital. She was treated and discharged.

     No suspicious circumstances were detected concerning the cause of the fire.
