Correctional officers stop remand inmates fighting at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre

     Correctional officers stopped a fight between two male remand inmates at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (July 16).

     At about 9.15am, the two inmates, aged 35 and 49, had a quarrel over some trivial matter and started a fist fight inside the activity room. Two officers at the scene immediately stopped and separated them.

     The two inmates sustained minor abrasions on their faces during the incident. They were treated at the centre hospital. While stopping the fight, one officer was pushed to the ground and sustained minor injury on his elbow. He was sent to a public hospital for further examination after treatment by a medical officer of the centre hospital.
 
     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The two inmates were both remanded for the offence of murder.
