Regional Traffic Day of Hong Kong Island

     Police officers issued a total of 613 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 67 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations during the Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island.

     The operation concluded at 7pm today (July 15) and a total of 271 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black sites on Hong Kong Island.

     A total of 472 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 141 for other traffic offences.

     Sixteen pedestrians and 100 drivers were cautioned for committing minor traffic offences.  

     Statistics revealed that a total of 1,463 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island from January to June this year, of which 480 involved pedestrian.  Among the traffic accidents with pedestrians injured, 47.9 per cent were attributed to the negligence of pedestrians.
