The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, will make a two-day visit to Guangzhou and Dongguan on Wednesday (July 17) and Thursday (July 18) to foster closer economic co-operation between Hong Kong and Guangdong Province.
Mr Tsang will visit Guangzhou, including Nansha, on Wednesday. While in Guangzhou, Mr Tsang will meet with officials of the Guangdong Provincial Government and the Guangzhou Municipal Government. As Nansha has been chosen as a major co-operation zone for Guangdong and Hong Kong in implementing pilot measures, Mr Tsang will visit various key developments in Nansha to gain a better understanding of the district's latest development plans.
Mr Tsang will visit Dongguan on Thursday. In addition to meeting with officials of the Dongguan Municipal Government, Mr Tsang will take the opportunity to meet Hong Kong businessmen and visit Hong Kong-funded enterprises in Dongguan.
While Mr Tsang is away on the duty visit, the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, will act as Financial Secretary.
