The spokesperson for Yan Chai Hospital (YCH) made the following announcement regarding an incident of electrical short-circuit happened today (July 11):
At around 8.45am today, it was found that there was water seepage in the switch room in Block B of YCH, leading to electrical short-circuit of one bust duct in the switch room. Essential electricity supply was immediately activated. Emergency repair was also conducted immediately while the incident was reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office.
During the activation of essential electricity supply system, the major medical equipment, emergency patient services, including accident and emergency services were not affected but five elective operations have to be rescheduled. In regard to this incident, the hospital had already expressed apology to all patients concerned.
All electricity supply of the block was resumed at around 6.30pm after the completion of the repair work. To prevent recurrence of similar incident, the hospital will investigate and review the incident thoroughly.
