Man charged with murder
***********************

Police today (July 9) charged a 48-year-old man with one count of murder in suspected connection with a murder case in North Point on May 11 in which a 42-year-old man was killed.

At about 11.35pm on that day, Police received a report that some people were fighting at the junction of Java Road and Shu Kuk Street.

Police officers sped to the scene and found the 42-year-old man lying unconsciously on the ground while two other men both aged 38 sustained injuries. The trio was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where the 42-year-old man was certified dead at 5.25pm on May 14.

Initial investigations revealed that the three victims, who were friends, were attacked by several men at the junction of Java Road and Shu Kuk Street. The culprits then fled away.

After further investigations, Police yesterday (July 8) arrested six men aged from 39 to 53 in Chai Wan, North Point and Tseung Kwan O. One of them, aged 48, was charged today and will appear in Eastern Magistrates' Court tomorrow (July 10). The other five arrestees are being detained for enquiries.

Active investigations by the Regional Anti-triad Unit of Hong Kong Island are underway.
