Calligraphy and painting exhibition displays works of 11 local elderly artists (with photos)

     A Chinese calligraphy and painting exhibition to display 120 artworks by 11 renowned local artists aged over 78 will be held at the Exhibition Gallery at G/F of the Hong Kong Central Library from Friday to Sunday (July 5 to 7). The public are invited to visit the exhibition. Admission is free.

     The 11 Hong Kong-based artists, Mr Cheung Nim-ping, Professor Wong Chai-lok, Mr Yee Kee-fu, Professor Lee Yue-hong, Mr Lai Ming, Dr Wong Leung Kit-wah, Dr Kwong Kai-to, Dr Li Kai-yan, Mr Wong Yat-sun, Mr Leung Sung-hoi and Mr Lau Kar-yee, have been working tirelessly in the creation and promotion of Chinese culture and arts. Their specialty areas include watercolour painting, Chinese painting and calligraphy.

     The dates and opening hours of the exhibition are as follows:

July 5 (5.30pm to 8pm)
July 6 (10am to 8pm)
July 7 (10am to 6pm)

     The Director of Home Affairs, Mrs Pamela Tan, will officiate at the exhibition's opening ceremony scheduled for 5.30pm on July 5.

     The exhibition is organised by the Hong Kong Youth Cultural and Arts Competitions Committee as one of the highlight activities to celebrate the committee's 38th anniversary. It is also one of the recommended activities of the "Hong Kong: Our Home" Campaign. The Hong Kong Lan Ting Society and the Hong Kong Culture and Art Promotion Association are the co-organisers.
