Fourteen building plans approved in May

     The Buildings Department approved 14 building plans in May, with four on Hong Kong Island, one in Kowloon and nine in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, five were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, seven were for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial developments and one was for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 11 building projects that, when completed, will provide 63 708 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 832 units, and 49 062 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 11 building projects.

     The department also issued seven occupation permits, with three on Hong Kong Island, one in Kowloon and three in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 338 sq m, involving one unit, and 70 240 sq m for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in May totalled about $1.3 billion.

     In addition, three demolition consents involving three building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 806 reports about unauthorised building works in May, and issued 1 044 removal orders on unauthorised works.
