Fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi in the small hours of today (June 29) in which a 19-year-old man was killed.

     At about 1am, a motorcycle driven by a 28-year-old man was travelling along Tsing Kwai Highway towards the New Territories. When it approached outside Container Terminal 6, the 19-year-old male motorcycle passenger reportedly fell down on the ground and was hit from behind by a taxi driven by a 54-year-old man.

     Sustaining serious multiple injuries on his body, the 19-year-old man was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 1.42am.

     The taxi-driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to Police on July 2.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South, are under way.
