The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, will leave for Shanghai tomorrow morning (June 27) to attend the Lujiazui Forum to be held from tomorrow to Saturday (June 29).
The theme of this year's forum is "A New Vision for Financial Reform and Opening Up". Professor Chan will speak at a plenary session entitled "New Opportunities & New Challenges of RMB Cross-border Use" scheduled for June 28.
The forum is jointly organised by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the People's Bank of China, the China Banking Regulatory Commission, the China Securities Regulatory Commission and the China Insurance Regulatory Commission. It provides a platform for heads of states, financial leaders and well-known experts and scholars to discuss the world's major financial issues.
While in Shanghai, Professor Chan will exchange views with financial and monetary officials, as well as senior management of financial institutions there. He will return to Hong Kong on Saturday morning.
