*****************************************************

The Secretary for Justice, Mr Rimsky Yuen, SC, will visit Beijing from tomorrow (June 26) to June 28 to attend the Asia Pacific Regional Arbitration Group (APRAG) Conference 2013.

Mr Yuen will deliver a speech to promote Hong Kong as a regional centre for legal and dispute resolution services in the Asia Pacific region, and will also update the conference participants on the latest developments of arbitration and mediation services in Hong Kong.

Established in 2004, APRAG is a regional federation of arbitration associations which aims to improve standards and knowledge of international arbitration, and will make submissions on behalf of the region to national and international organisations. Currently APRAG has 30 member organisations.

Organised by the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), the APRAG Conference 2013 will provide valuable opportunities for government officials and legal and arbitration professionals from the Mainland and other parts of the world to share their views and vision on the future of international arbitration in the region in the next decade, under the theme "International Arbitration in Asia-Pacific Region in the Next Ten Years - Opportunities and Challenges".

During his stay in Beijing, Mr Yuen will take the opportunity to make courtesy calls on the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate, to exchange views on matters of mutual interests including the legal and judicial co-operation between the Mainland and Hong Kong.

Also joining the visit will be the Deputy Solicitor General, Mr Peter Wong.

Mr Yuen will return to Hong Kong on June 28.
