CSSA caseload for May

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in May showed a drop of 696 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent, when compared to that in April, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (June 19).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of May stood at 266 510 (see attached table), with a total of 412 220 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low earnings cases and unemployment cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.3 per cent and 0.9 per cent to 9 724 cases and 22 925 cases respectively. Single parent cases and old age cases both dropped by 0.2 per cent to 30 400 cases and 152 734 cases respectively. Ill-health cases also registered a decrease of 0.1 per cent to 25 244 cases.

     Permanent disability cases registered a slight increase of 0.2 per cent to 18 391 cases.
