FEHD cancels restaurant licence in Tsuen Wan
**********************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has cancelled the licence of a restaurant in Tsuen Wan.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the business area. As a result, the licence of the restaurant, located on the ground floor of the front block and the middle block at No. 28 Sam Pei Square, was cancelled today (June 16).

"In March this year, two convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.

"A total fine of $4,000 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the cancellation of the licence," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of four convictions for the same offence between November and December last year. A total fine of $5,750 was levied and 60 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspensions for seven and 14 days in this February and March respectively.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign indicating that the premises have been licensed at a conspicuous place near the main entrance. A list of licensed food premises is also available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
