Senior Police Call accorded Chinese name and logo (with photos)

     The ˇ§Senior Police Call Chinese Naming and Logo Design Competitionˇ¨ award presentation ceremony was held at Police Sports and Recreation Club today (June 14). An official Chinese name and logo were accorded to Senior Police Call (SPC).

     The competition was aimed at enhancing public awareness of SPC through participating in designing a Chinese name and a logo for the programme. The two-category Chinese naming and logo design competition received more than 11 200 and 2 900 entries respectively.

     Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Mr Tang Kam-moon, said since the launching of SPC in December last year, activities serving the elderly had been further strengthened in different Police Districts. He pointed out that SPC would be an effective platform to further enhance the communication between the Police and the elderly. Various activities would be organised for the elderly to raise their awareness of crime prevention and road safety as well as to realise their potentials.

     Other officiating guests included Deputy Commissioner of Police (Management), Mr Ma Wai-luk; Police Director of Management Services, Mr Tang How-kong; Police Director of Operations, Mr Wong Chi-hung; as well as three of the adjudicators: Chairman of Road Safety Campaign Committee, Dr Eric Cheng Kam-chung; Director of the Sau Po Centre on Ageing of University of Hong Kong, Dr Terry Lum Yat-sang; and Chief Officer, Elderly Service of The Hong Kong Council of Social Service, Ms Grace Chan Man-yee.

     Besides choosing entries for merits awards, adjudicators also selected three best Chinese names and logo designs for attendants to vote for the champions at todayˇ¦s ceremony.

     The champion of the Chinese naming category went to Ms Li Cheuk-man while that of logo design went to Ms Yip Kim-ying.  Each received a trophy, a certificate and a book coupon of $3,000.
