New performers from Cantonese Opera Academy of HK to showcase achievements

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present "2012/13 The Cantonese Opera Academy of Hong Kong - End of Term Performance" in July. Directed by Cantonese opera maestro Chan Wing-yee, the Cantonese opera "Legend of the White Snake" will be performed by new talents from the Cantonese opera training course including Leung Sum-yee, Wan Pak-kei, Ng Tsz-ching, Leung Fei-tung, Jackie Leung and others, together with students from the musical accompaniment class and the Chinese percussion class. The rising stars discovered and nurtured in the Academy's courses will put great effort into showcasing their achievements.

     The Cantonese Opera Academy of Hong Kong Training Course aims to train up playwrights, instrument accompanists and percussion accompanists, and foster potential talents to be successors of Chinese opera artists in a four-year programme, which is taught in a progressive way by professional tutors and senior artists.

     The performance will be staged at 7.30pm on July 13 (Saturday) at the Theatre of the Ko Shan Theatre. Tickets priced at $80 and $60 are now available at all URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by telephone credit card booking. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for full-time students and CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis).
