The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, concluded his three-day visit to New York today (June 12, New York time).
In the morning, Mr Leung met with business leaders from Hong Kong and the US at the opening session of the Hong Kong-United States Business Council Plenary Meeting.
Mr Leung explained Hong Kong's unique role as the connector-in-chief in linking the US to the markets both in the Mainland and across Asia and updated the participants on recent developments in Hong Kong that have enhanced our role as a gateway to the Mainland in respect of trade, finance, ideas and contacts.
Mr Leung will end his visit to New York with a tour to the United Nations (UN) headquarters. He will also attend a lunch hosted by the UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, Mr Wu Hongbo.
The Chief Executive will depart New York in the afternoon and arrive in Hong Kong in the evening of June 13.
