LegCo Panel on Security visits Marine Police Headquarters (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     The Legislative Council (LegCo) Panel on Security (the Panel) conducted a site visit to the Marine Police Headquarters today (June 10) to better understand the operations of the Marine Police.

     Members of the Panel visited the Marine Police Headquarters and took the police launch to observe the demonstration on the interception of high-speed moving objects with High Speed Interceptor craft. Members also received a briefing from the Marine Police on the operations of the Marine Police Headquarters and measures to prevent and suppress illegal activities in Hong Kong waters.

     Members then visited the Marine Regional Command and Control Centre to get to know the operations and functions of the Central Command System including the Digital Radar Security System, the Automatic Vessel Location and the Automatic Identification System.

     Panel members participating in the site visit included Mr Ip Kwok-him (Chairman of the Panel), Mr James To (Deputy Chairman of the Panel), Dr Lam Tai-fai, Mr Ng Leung-sing, Mr Yiu Si-wing, Mr Kwok Wai-keung, Mr Chung Kwok-pan, and a non-Panel Member, Mr Tony Tse.
