Fatal traffic accident in Aberdeen

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Aberdeen this morning (June 7) in which a 55-year-old man died.

     At about 10am, a heavy-goods-vehicle (HGV) driven by a 50-year-old man and a bus driven by a 55-year-old man were travelling along Shek Pai Wan Road towards Aberdeen. When reaching near Tin Wan Hill Road, the HGV reportedly stopped due to traffic situation, the bus failed to stop and rammed into the HGV.

     The bus driver was trapped. He sustained injuries and was sent to the Queen Mary Hospital in unconscious state where he was certified dead at 10.36am.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are underway. The HGV driver is assisting in the investigation.

     Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers at 3661 1620.
