At the invitation of the Speaker of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (UK), Mr John Bercow, the President of the Legislative Council (LegCo), Mr Jasper Tsang, will visit the UK Parliament from June 10 to 14.
This will be the first overseas duty visit of Mr Tsang in his capacity of the President of the Fifth LegCo since assuming the office of the presidency in October last year.
During his visit in UK, Mr Tsang will meet with Speaker Mr Bercow and other key parliamentary leaders to exchange views on issues of mutual interest. Mr Tsang will also take the opportunity to observe the proceedings of the Prime Minister Question Time scheduled on June 12 and a number of committee meetings throughout the week.
While in London, Mr Tsang will pay a courtesy call to the Chinese Ambassador to the UK, Mr Liu Xiaoming, and meet with representatives of overseas Chinese in England. Besides, he will speak at the Chatham House, the Hong Kong Association and the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Mr Tsang will be accompanied by the Secretary General, Mr Kenneth Chen, and the Legal Adviser of the LegCo Secretariat, Mr Jimmy Ma, on his visit to London.
