LegCo Members meet with Tsuen Wan and Southern District Council members (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the LegCo Secretariat:

     Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) held meetings today (June 6) with members of the Tsuen Wan District Council and the Southern District Council respectively in Conference Room 1 and Conference Room 2 of the LegCo Complex to enable LegCo Members and District Council (DC) members to discuss and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.
 
     During the meeting with the Tsuen Wan District Council, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: street obstruction by restaurants in Tsuen Wan; re-trial of countdown device for pedestrian traffic lights; relocating Tsuen Wan Slaughterhouse and optimising land use; amendment of legislation for alleviating water seepage nuisances in buildings; optimising Tsuen Wan Town Lot 393 through reprovisioning to improve district environment and traffic; "poor toothless elders" (dental problems of the elderly); formulating a monitoring mechanism regarding the site selection and quantity of mobile telephone transmitters and receivers; and resolving the problem of using vehicles parked at metered parking spaces for the purpose of conducting business activities such as promotion and waste recovery. The meeting was convened by Mr Tam Yiu-chung and attended by Mr James To, Mr Vincent Fang, Mr Wong Ting-kwong, Ms Starry Lee, Mr Ip Kwok-him, Mr Michael Tien, Mr Ng Leung-sing, Mr Chan Han-pan, Ms Chan Yuen-han and Dr Lo Wai-kwok.

     As for the meeting with the Southern District Council, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: provision of a civic centre in Southern District; Signature Projects Scheme for Southern District; development of fishermen culture into tourism resources of Southern District (Hong Kong); request to construct the South Island Line (West); and the work targets of Southern District Council (2012-2015). The meeting was convened by Mr Frederick Fung and attended by Mr Vincent Fang, Mr Wong Kwok-hing, Mr Andrew Leung, Ms Cyd Ho, Ms Starry Lee, Mr Chan Kin-por, Mr Ip Kwok-him, Mr Paul Tse, Mr Steven Ho, Mr Charles Peter Mok, Ms Chan Yuen-han, Mr Kwok Wai-keung, Mr Sin Chung-kai and Mr Christopher Chung.
