Review on implementation of New Senior Secondary curriculum and assessment
************************************************************

The Education Bureau (EDB) issued a Circular Memorandum today (June 6) to update schools on the latest developments, major recommendations and key information regarding the implementation of the New Academic Structure (NAS).

The circular aims to help schools better prepare for the results release day of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination on July 15, provide updates on various important issues, and give schools guidelines and information to help review and fine-tune the implementation of the NSS curriculum and assessment.

A spokesman for the EDB said that the Circular Memorandum (CM No. 65/2013) issued today is the sixth issue in a series and serves as a comprehensive document containing all the important milestones reached.

The spokesman said, "The circular highlights the latest developments, which include the preparation for the HKDSE Examination results release day; guidelines on the implementation of the NSS curriculum; and continuous support for teachers through professional development programmes.

"In order to support schools in providing quality education through the implementation of the NSS curriculum, the EDB has provided them with additional resources and professional support. Since the 2008/09 school year, schools have been and will continue to be provided with the Senior Secondary Curriculum Support Grant (SSCSG), which can be deployed flexibly to support the on-going implementation of the NSS curriculum, including Liberal Studies. Schools are strongly encouraged to make flexible and effective use of other existing resources provided to support school-based transient needs," he said.

"We will continue to maintain close communication and collaboration with schools and other stakeholders to ensure timely dissemination of information and support to schools," the spokesman added.

Interested parties are welcome to visit the New Academic Structure Web Bulletin (www.edb.gov.hk/nas/en) or the designated webpage (www.edb.gov.hk/715/en) for the latest developments.
