Contract for Lung Mei bathing beach project awarded

With reference to the petition launched against the project of developing a bathing beach at Lung Mei under section 14(3) of the Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance (Cap. 499), the Chief Executive-in-Council decided yesterday (June 4) not to invoke the power to suspend, vary or cancel the Environmental Permit (EP) issued for the project, and has informed the petitioners in writing accordingly.
In accordance with the above decision, the EP of the Lung Mei bathing beach project remains valid. The Civil Engineering and Development Department has accordingly awarded the contract for the project today (June 5).
