17 building plans approved in April

     The Buildings Department approved 17 building plans in April, with four on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and eight in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, eight were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four were for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial developments and four were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 12 building projects that, when completed, will provide 43 481 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 552 units, and 26 894 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 12 building projects.

     The department also issued 10 occupation permits, with three in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 102 091 square metres, involving 1 218 units, and 81 918 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in April totalled about $5 billion.

     In addition, nine demolition consents involving nine building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 884 reports about unauthorised building works in April, and issued 1 394 removal orders on unauthorised works.
