Fatal traffic accident in Lantau South

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Lantau South this afternoon (June 1) in which a 45-year-old man died.

     About 1.45pm, a private car driven by a 25-year-old man was travelling along South Lantau Road towards Mui Wo, while the 45-year-old man was riding a motorcycle along South Lantau Road towards Tung Chung. When reaching near San Shek Wan, the private car reportedly collided with the motorcycle.

     Sustaining multiple injuries, the motorcyclist was rushed to the Mui Wo Clinic where he was certified dead at 2.35pm.

     The private car driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are underway.

     Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers at 3661 1300.
