Appointments to SFC Advisory Committee

     The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, under the authority delegated by the Chief Executive, has appointed six new members and re-appointed six serving members to the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) Advisory Committee for a term of two years with effect from June 1, 2013.

     The appointees are as follows:

Mr David Graham
Mr Mark Graham Shipman
Mr Richard David Winter

Re-appointed members
--------------------

Mr Henry Cheong Ying-chew
Mr Brian David Li Man-bun
Dr Lin Yong
Mr Peter Lo Chi-wai
Mr Frederick Tsang Sui-cheong
Ms Anna Wong Wai-kwan

     Announcing the appointments today (May 31), a Government spokesman said, "The Advisory Committee of the SFC comprises practitioners from a wide array of professions. They have operational experience and relevant expertise in financial markets. We are confident that they will provide independent and professional advice to the SFC on matters related to policy and market regulation."

     The spokesman also thanked the outgoing members of the Committee, including Ms Katherine Cheung Marn-kay, Mr Chew Fook-aun, Mr Mark Dickens, Mr Andrew Douglas Eu, Mrs Margaret Leung Ko May-yee and Mr Thomas Jefferson Wu for their valuable contributions to the SFC in the past term.

     The Advisory Committee of the SFC was established under Section 7 of the Securities and Futures Ordinance to advise the SFC on policy matters regarding its regulatory objectives and functions.

     In addition to the 12 appointed members, the Advisory Committee of the SFC also comprises the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and an Executive Director of the SFC.
